SXSW 2thousand11.

Hey guys.  So I made it down for part of SXSW with my husband and his band.  I have never been and it was so exciting.  I mostly got to see Mickey.  The last night I was there, luckily, I got to see Shannon and the Clams and Davila 666.  Davila is one of my favorite bands to see live.  They have so much energy, they are just the epitome of fun.

It was hottttttttttttt hot hot in Austin.  So what was everyone wearing?  Less clothes the better!  I saw great prints, vintage dresses paired with cowboy boots and rompers.

I did want to talk about a band I saw play at Vain Salon.  Squish is a 4 piece all girl group.  They are from Chicago and oddly enough I haven't seen them until SXSW.  During the set there were so many instrument changes.  3 of the lovely ladies sang, including the drummer.  They switched between keyboards, guitar and bass as well.  With songs like "Jesus is my boyfriend" and "Meeting in the Ladies Room" it was fun and sassy.  At one point someone in the audience yelled out "You offended my Catholicism."  They replied "That song is about cats!"  These ladies are fun! Please check them out.

I left Austin on Saturday morning to fly out to Florida to spend some time with friends.  It's even hotter here so I'm seeing even less clothes, but that's fine with me.  Bring on the Vitamin D!

The Gold and the Beautiful!

So I attended The Gold and the Beautiful Clothing Swap in Chicago a couple weekends ago.  It was a really good night.  This was the first swap I had ever been to, and it was a lot of fun.  I met some awesome ladies, got to get rid of some clothes that didn't get much love anymore and replace them with new ones!

I wanted to post a couple of photos from the event.

The photos were taken by Lucy Hewett and they all came out amazing.  See more photos here.

You can't see my whole outfit but here are the deets:

Cardigan: Torrid
White V-Neck Tee: Old Navy (in store)
Black Ruffle Skirt: Orginally Target (thrifted new with tags!)

First.

I have been wanting to make a serious blog for a while.  I thought it would be really great to have different features and contributors.  I am hoping to have a couple girls contribute to this blog so there will be a few different perspectives on fashion.

I will be updating soon with outfit posts and shopping tips for those with similar issues finding clothes. I also want to do a feature on fashionable women I meet while out randomly.  It will be sort of a street fashion kind of thing.  I think it's important to represent other people's style.

There will be heavy emphasis on thrifting in this blog.  I look forward to updating regularly starting very soon.

xo.
